Frequently asked questions about crowd management with LED displays

What is crowd management with LED displays?

Crowd management with LED displays is crowd flow guidance via mobile and fixed light boards on event sites or in cities. Real-time editable messages, walking routes and evacuation information are controlled from a single multidisciplinary control room. Daylight bv combines this with multidisciplinary advice on the event plan.

Which events has Daylight provided crowd management for?

Pinkpop, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Grand Départ Utrecht 2015 (Tour de France start), King's Day Arnhem (16 LED displays for city-wide crowd flow management), Sail Amsterdam, Lokerse Feesten, Vierdaagsefeesten Nijmegen, Gentse Feesten, Marktrock Leuven and more. Active since 1991.

What happens if the network fails during an event?

The message remains on screen. Every LED board has a built-in computer that stores the active message locally. No continuous communication is needed between control room and board, unlike video-stream-based systems.

How wind-resistant are the LED installations?

The installations withstand winds up to 12 Beaufort. The scaffolding base combined with 3 tonnes of concrete provides wind resistance beyond the NEN-EN 13782 standard (80 km/h). For extreme emergencies, this is a key difference from classic event signage.

How early should we involve Daylight for an event?

The earlier, the better. Daylight advises during the pre-production phase on multidisciplinary scenarios: walking routes, terrain layout, bottleneck analysis and evacuation plan. Call +32 9 230 54 00 or request a no-obligation proposal.
